The purpose of the ARPF LEAD Program is to train potential leaders and enhance current leaders in the recreation field. This training is provided to assist the selected candidates in the development of skills that will make them effective leaders within their agencies, their communities, the profession, and ultimately ARPA/ARPF. . LEAD is not a “one and done” program. We encourage any ARPA member to apply for LEAD.
Selected attendees must be current ARPA Professional Members in good standing with the Association. Applicants must have been a member of ARPA for at least 6 months.
Any member of ARPA may nominate a candidate for ARPA LEAD. It is also acceptable for individuals to nominate themselves. All applications must include the signature of the nominee’s/applicant’s agency supervisor. Nominations will be reviewed by ARPF. The program attendance will be limited and based upon review of application.
The 2.5 day program will consist of: Leadership development/enhancement activities, the history and structure of ARPA, and how to promote ARPA and recreation, FISH! Philosophy for Leaders and team building exercises. The program will also focus on potential opportunities for involvement by the attendees in ARPA and networking with fellow professionals. As a part of the program, outdoor adventure programming will be used which will require physical activity and participation. Classroom lecture, participation
