Alabama Recreation and Parks Association announced today that it has formed a partnership with the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI), a leader in youth-centered safety solutions, to offer background checks as part of NCSI’s Affinity Program.

NCSI will serve as the official provider of background checks for ARPA. NCSI provides the “Gold Standard” in background screening, serving youth sports organizations, national governing bodies, and thousands of city and county recreation departments across the country. NCSI is accredited by the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) and is the only background check provider endorsed by the National Council of Youth Sports.

“The safety of the children involved in our programs has always been a priority at the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association,” stated Natalie Norman, ARPA Executive Director. “To partner with NCSI to provide comprehensive background checks for our volunteers is part of our commitment to ensure a safe experience for everyone who participates in activities at all of our facilities.”

“We are thrilled to have ARPA join our roster of partners and take the next step in helping to ensure the safety of children,” said Ryan Hurley, Director of Safety Operations, NCSI. “We’re dedicated to providing safe and positive experiences for children and we commend ARPA for doing their part to protect children on and off the playing field.”

NCSI conducts background checks that go beyond a basic local or national database search to help organizations discover records that might have been missed on other searches. With the support of ARPA, Alabama parks and recreation departments can be confident in a thorough background screening process that reflects their agency’s standards of due diligence. ARPA encourages its members to take advantage of NCSI’s experience and knowledge by considering NCSI for background screening solutions.
